Who’s funnier?

October 17, 2007

I listen to Russell Brand’s bizare radio show on bbc radio two via the power of listen again interweb loveliness. But this week Noel Fielding was the guest host. The previously shambolic student style radio show was turned upside down and become perhaps even more chaotic.

For the time being here they are trying to out funny each other backstage at the Secret Policemen’s ball. Noel definitely wins.

InRainbows

October 10, 2007

It feels rather exciting having actually paid for an album for a change. I forked out £40 for the shiny box set which doesn’t arrive until December. However I was emailed the album this morning. I haven’t been quite so excited about looking at a download bar for a long time. I love Radiohead – Thom could fart in the studio and loop it backwards through a bleepy wah wah and I’d lap it up.

Verdict so far: 30 seconds in and it’s fast paced and Thom’s vocals are unvarnished. Oooh, now the guitar has come in.

It’s beautiful….

Back to the coal age

October 9, 2007

As a new opencast site for mining coal is approved by the very government who claims to back a low carbon future it makes you wonder if they were ever serious about it in the first place. While they’re digging a big hole in the ground they might as well bury their environmental policies with it. It makes you weep.

George Monbiot explains all:
